The concept comes from my childhood and my fear of clowns. The more I spoke to friends I noticed that they were just as afraid of them as I was. I spoke to my friend Scott Mansoori who I bounce ideas with back and forth he came up the idea of a clown who wanted to be loved by kids and everything he did, caused the kids to fear him. I thought thats geninue. So I started thinking about this clown and how or why kids were fear them. The more I thought about it I saw the discrimination of the appearance of the clown. And that the gestures of smiling laughing, jumping didn't matter. It was a reflection of our discrimination of people based on gender, race, or religion.
I thought well what if this clown wasn't in a costume. What if he was born a clown. Opposite of another inspiration ours by Chris Landreth called - Bingo The Clown (1998).
I'm going to have this clown be a president of a country of clowns and have him speak for clowns in his country. And have him interviewed in a parody to 60 minutes.
